Strengthening Families is a research based parenting program taught in a 7 or 14 week format. This curriculum includes a class for children. Parents who have completed this class show an increase in parenting skills and marital communication and a decrease in stress, depression, and substance abuse. Children who complete this class show an increase in social skills, cooperation, and school performance and a decrease in depression, misconduct, and aggression.

Strengthen Families strengthens parent-child bonds and builds the parent's ability to pay attention to their children thus reducing children's misbehavior.

This program was developed by Karol L. Kumpfer, Ph.D at the University of Utah.
